Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded April’s inflation at 0.08% mom or the lowest since Ramadan in 2004, and it underlined year-on-year inflation at 2.67% and year-to-date inflation at 0.84%. It was even much lower than the average inflation of last 17-year Ramadan at 1.21% mom.

The lowest inflation in April 2020 was attributable to the Government’s anticipative backstop to maintain stable food supply and prices, the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) to cut demands for goods and services, as well as soft household consumption. (Kontan)
