Asian Games Momentum: A Boon for SCMA
Not only did Asia Games of 2018 give positive impacts on Indonesia’s tourism industry, but it also proved a boon to economic benefits. One of them is SCMA as the official broadcaster of Asian Games of 2018 whose performance was boosted by such event. Its 3Q18 revenue soared by 30.4% y-y to IDR1.32 trillion akin to 2Q18 high-season performance. Additionally, 3Q18 net profit also buoyed by 35.3% y-y to IDR345 billion even though 3Q18’s gross margin was at 52.0% akin to 3Q17’s gross margin.

Another to Asian Games momentum, Asian Football Federation tournament and new soap opera program such as FTV Azab broadcasted on IVM were also the potent drivers for 3Q18 performance. However, the lack of monumental events such as Asian Games of 2018 driving SCMA’s FY18 growth is unlikely to re-occur in ahead years.
